From the director’s desk, Feb. 1

Dear PlanPhilly member,

February will be quite an exciting month for the Central Delaware Waterfront Planning Process, as we hold our Best Practices Session in just two days!

Saturday, February 3
Independence Seaport Museum, Penn’s Landing 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Hundreds of you have registered already, so please continue to sign up at www.planphilly.com/registration.  Breakfast and lunch are provided, and parking at the Museum is complimentary courtesy of the Penn’s Landing Corporation.

A tentative agenda, description, and biographies of participants in the Session can all be found at www.planphilly.com.

Advisory Group Meetings

The Steering Committee of the Central Delaware Waterfront Advisory Group discussed multiple planning scenarios this past Monday, which it will summarize for the Advisory Group at its meeting this coming Monday, February 5.  Read the full story here: http://www.planphilly.com/node/806

The Advisory Group will meet at 1515 Arch Street, 18th floor.  Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. so we can begin the meeting promptly at 8:00 a.m.  As always, all Advisory Group meetings are open to the public, so all are invited to attend and participate in discussion.

Waterfront Public Forums Announced!

Keeping a fast pace in February, we have reached tentative agreements for the locations of our second round of public forums!  Through group work led by Harris Sokoloff of Penn’s Graduate School of Education, we will work with the values we discussed in our December forums to create “principles” for waterfront development.  These principles will be the foundation for the design of the waterfront vision!

Monday, February 12: St. Peter’s School, 319 Lombard St, Society Hill Tuesday, February 13: Cescaphe Ballroom, 923 North Second Street, Northern Liberties Tuesday, February 20: Furness High School, 1900 South Third Street, Pennsport

Light dinner will be served at both events, which will run from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Register to attend at www.planphilly.com/registration.  Please note that the event locations may change, but please register for the dates you are available and we will keep you informed of any changes made.

Public participation is crucial for these meetings, as they will directly inform the design process that begins in March.  Come let your voice be heard!  Tell us your stories of what a 21st century waterfront means to you.
