Preservation Alliance Calls for Award Nominations: 2009 Preservation Achievement Awards and 2009 Homeowner Awards

(November 17, 2008) – The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia is seeking nominations for its two 2009 award programs.

The Preservation Achievement Awards are geared to projects involving the preservation or protection of historic resources including the restoration, rehabilitation or adaptive reuse of historic properties, sympathetic new construction or additions to historic properties or education, documentation and advocacy work on behalf of historic preservation. Commercial projects are eligible.

The 2009 Homeowner Awards are limited to residential historic preservation projects undertaken by individual property owners, either do-it-yourself or by a professional contractor. Eligible projects include interior or exterior restoration and sensitive additions to historic houses.

The deadline for both nominations is 5 p.m. January 30, 2009. Projects within the following counties are eligible for either award: Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties in Pennsylvania; Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties in New Jersey and New Castle County in Delaware.

Winners of the 2009 Homeowner Awards will be honored at the Alliance’s Old House Fair, Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Germantown Friends School, Philadelphia. The recipients of the 2009 Preservation Achievement Awards will be honored at the Alliance’s 16th annual Preservation Achievement Awards Luncheon, May 11, 2009 at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue in Center City Philadelphia.
