Construction begins on “bicycle transit center” in Washington, DC

Greater Greater Washington: Architect discusses Union Station bicycle transit center

This local DC blog on design and planning interviewed the lead architect behind the forthcoming “bicycle transit center” in DC’s Union Station, which has already broken ground.

The center will be 1,700 square feet and cost about $3 million to construct. It will hold approximately 150 bikes on 2-tier racks, will also offer bicycle rentals and repairs, and have changing rooms and lockers for members. Government officials expect revenue from rentals and repairs will offset the cost of the $3 million structure.
