Wildwood’s Shore Plaza will be rebuilt

By Shannon McDonald

It was December 2005 when Wildwood’s Shore Plaza Motel at 26th Avenue and the Boardwalk was destroyed in a fire. Sam’s Pizza, a boardwallk landmark that operated on the bottom floor of the motel, rebuilt in time for Memorial Day 2006. But for more than three year, the motel has remained vacant.

That will all change soon, thanks to a decision at a Wildwood Planning Board meeting, which approved the rebuilding of the Shore Plaza Motel. The new plan will include some of the design elements from the original 1957 structure, while adding new safety elements and a parking lot. Construction will begin as soon as the owners’ insurance claims from the 2005 are finalized.
