Bustleton carjacking results in suicide

A Bustleton carjacking early yesterday evening resulted in a police chase and the carjacker’s suicide.

Just after 6 p.m. yesterday, a man tried to rob a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale. The suspect fired his gun once, according to reports, then forced the woman out of her car.

The man led police in a chase down Roosevelt Boulevard, ending at Oxford Avenue and Levick Street. He then fled on foot to Tabor Avenue, where he shot himself in the head when police asked him to drop the gun.

Investigators are still evaluating the situation, but said the officers didn’t fire any shots.
