Northeast native and 2005 grad of the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts Peter Sabasino is currently a contestant on the FOX TV hit show So You Think You Can Dance. Sabasino’s primary style is tap, though he’s trained in modern, jazz, hip-hop and other styles.

Worth a read

Holy Family University’s Department of Athletics will be holding a “Road to the Elite Eight” event on Nov. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the University’s Campus Center. The free event will kick off the men’s and women’s basketball seasons. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation.

The Frankford Gazette has a recap of the Overington Park Fall Festival, which took place Sunday after two rain delays. The event was a success. The next event, called Fall For Your Park is on Saturday Nov. 21.

Worth a skim

By a vote of 13-9, Mike Thaete, formerly of Mayfair Town watch, was voted in as President of the 15th District PDAC, over Angel Cianci-Hartman of Tacony Town Watch, replacing former President Scott Cummings, who resigned for personal reasons.

The Courier Times, Intelligencer, and Burlington County Times Newspapers joined to host a Phillies Phan Pep Rally at Dave and Busters in Franklin Mills Mall.

Worth a glance

Cottman and Frankford avenues, the crossroads of Northeast Philadelphia, were discussed in New York State’s Times Herald-Record newspaper regarding the intersection’s importance as the hub of celebration for Phillies fans, though no Northeast fans were mentioned.
