Presentation BVM soccer players “Kick for Cans”

Presentation BVM’s CYO soccer teams charged an unusual admission fee to its end-of-season games: canned goods. The teams held a “Kick for Cans” food drive Friday, Nov. 20.

For the first time in nine years, the boys and girls Region 1 CYO soccer teams, who played at Jardel Rec Center, held a canned-food drive in the spirit of the holidays.

With help from varsity boys soccer coach Ed Cruz, volunteer ref Luke Jardel and CYO Service/Event Planner Kathleen Brown, the teams were able to donate their goods to St. Bernard’s Food Bank, who then distributed the cans to needy families.

As Soccer Coordinator Pat Donnelly put it: “This event is a great combination of service and sport.”
