Keystone Bank Restoration Update

Current plans for the restoration of the former Keystone Bank building’s Chestnut Street facade have proven contentious. Architect JKR Partners has proposed a two-story glass box to replace the current Valu-Plus storefront. Some feel the new design is an exciting contemporary intervention and a necessary component of the building’s successful rehabilitation, while others contend that it is an incompatible distraction and a lost opportunity for an historically accurate reconstruction of one of the city’s most significant buildings.
