Montgomery County Planning Commission Update

From the APA – PA Southeast Section Blog:

The Montgomery County Planning Commission is busy with a variety of planning initiatives, including the new county economic development program and an update to the county comprehensive plan.  The planning commission is also constantly researching planning issues and advocating for good planning.  The results of this work are always posted on our website.

The county’s new model Residential Office district is one new product.  This model provides guidance for areas with many small residential lots on busy roads near intense non-residential development, allowing homes to be converted to offices.  The model includes a number of unique standards, particularly in its requirements for common driveways and interconnections between properties.

Another new product is a series of six fliers on renewable energy.  These fliers address small-scale solar energy systems, small wind turbines, geothermal energy, outdoor hydronic heaters, and energy-conserving building design.

More model ordinances and green parking guidelines will be published soon.
