Parks and Recreation Issues RFI for Farming

The Department of Parks and Recreation has issued a request for information (RFI) to identify farmers and farm institutions that may be interested in operating and managing small plot, commercial, chemical-free farms at Manatawna Farm, located at 100 Spring Lane in Philadelphia.

This project aims to foster sustainable, urban agricultural businesses in Philadelphia and further the growth of a regional food system. Additionally the establishment of the farms will support the Philadelphia Food Charter, which calls for the use of City-owned spaces for urban agriculture, and Greenworks Philadelphia which recommends 12 commercial agriculture projects be established in the City by 2015.

Goodman has worked as a city planner and project manager for PennPraxis since graduating from PennDesign in 2007. His focus has been on projects that combine community engagement and public space design, including the Central Delaware Waterfront Planning Process, the Green2015 initiative for Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and the Bartram’s Mile project in Southwest Philadelphia.
