June 8, 2010

At 9 p.m. tonight, WHYY will broadcast a 47-minute documentary on the history of the Schuylkill River region.

Featuring dramatizations and interviews with historians and other experts, The Revolutionary River gives a detailed look at the history of the Schuylkill River region. It includes fascinating information about Pennsylvania geology, the Native American tribes and early European settlers who inhabited the region; the river’s role in the American and Industrial Revolutions; a thought-provoking look at the pollution that once threatened the river, and the environmental efforts that rescued it.
