Weekend News Briefs: 6/18-6/20

Twenty children were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a bus accident.  A sedan rear-ended the school bus the children were on on their way home from school at Castor Avenue and Benner Street. None of the children had life-threatening injuries, but were treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Aria Health-Frankford and Einstein Medical Center.

A teenager was killed early Friday morning in a dirt bike accident. The 18-year-old was riding the bike around 1 a.m. when he reportedly ran a red light at Bridge and Tacony streets at the Northeast/Bridesburg border. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale in critical condition after colliding with a vehicle at the intersection. He died a short time later.

Construction at SEPTA’s Bell’s Corner loop was completed last week. The facility at Castor and Bustleton avenues received major renovations as part of SEPTA’s $1.4 million state-funded dollars.
