Weekend News Briefs: 7/23-7/25

Friday — District Attorney Seth Williams hosted Take Back the Night in Frankford in the neighborhood’s ongoing effort to prevent crime and foster neighborhood relations. A group of residents, politicians and community leaders came together and walked the streets of Frankford between 9:30 p.m. and midnight.

Saturday — A woman was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in Frankford. The 21-year-old was shot multiple times around 4 p.m. at Penn and Womrath streets, and was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale. Police are still investigating the incident.

Sunday — Two women were hospitalized early Sunday morning after a late night fire in Castor Gardens. Firefighters arrived on the 1200-block of Stirling Street where two women were trapped in the blaze. They were taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. The cause of the fire has not been revealed.
