Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Oxford Circle crosses the Boulevard again

There’s a lot of confusion among our large news outlets about where Oxford Circle is.

It’s not in Frankford.

It’s not everything west of the Boulevard.

It’s not east of the Boulevard at all.

Third-time offender CBS3 apparently didn’t get the multiple memos. In covering a gas station shooting at Roosevelt Boulevard and Bustleton Avenue, CBS reported the crime scene as Oxford Circle. That intersection is too far north and east to be in Oxford Circle.

As always, we have to point out how important errors like these are, especially when it comes to reporting crime. Residents of Oxford Circle, when reading this article, will think there was a shooting in their neighborhood. Resident living near the actual crime scene won’t be aware of the impact.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast mag wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
