Annual Ed Bacon design competition and soiree set for Dec. 7

This year’s Bacon Awards – the annual soiree which honors the winning team in a student design competition and a professional for his or her career-long contributions, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Center for Architecture.

For the first time in the event’s history, the winner of the Edmund N. Bacon Prize is a Philadelphian: Denise Scott Brown, principal of Venturi, Scott Brown & Associates and author of Learning from Las Vegas.

The student competitors vying to win this year’s Ed Bacon Student Design Competition were challenged to design an international exposition in Philadelphia for 2026 – the nation’s 250th birthday. The winning teams will be announced at the event, which begins at 6 p.m. with a reception. Brown will give a lecture and present the student awards.

The cost is $75 for the general public, and $25 for students or AIA Associates. Click here to learn more or register.
