Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Olney is not in the Northeast

We’re a little late in correcting this, and we’ve gotta thank the multiple readers who pointed out this blunder.

There’s a lot of discussion on this site and elsewhere about which neighborhoods make up the Northeast. And while there are some points of contention, we all pretty much agree: Olney is not in the Northeast.

Action News didn’t get or doesn’t care about the memo, because when millions of dollars of heroin was recovered at 6060 Crescentville Rd. back on Nov. 19, the station said the drug bust happened in the Northeast.

This particular area is cause for debate because of the nature of its location. Nearby Crescentville isn’t really considered the Northeast. But Lawncrest, which comprises Lawndale and Crescentville, is. So those in the 19120 ZIP code are often in limbo.

But we have geography on our side. The location of the drug bust is on the opposite side of the Tacony (Tookany) Creek, and therefore, NOT in the Northeast.
