Weekend News Briefs: 12/10-12/12

Friday — The Philadelphia Police Officer who was shot late Thursday night was released from Temple University Hospital early Friday morning. Officer Kevin Gorman of Mayfair was shot in the shoulder while on duty on the 3300-block of North Howard Street. The suspect remains on the loose.

Herbert and Catherine Schaible have been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. The Rhawnhurst’s couple 2-year-old son died in January 2009 after the couple prayed for his recovery of an illness instead of seeking medical treatment. The pair face 10 years in prison.

Saturday — The Frankford Gazette stumbled upon a film shoot Saturday night. Film crews were spotted at North Catholic High School around 7:30.

Sunday — A woman in her 30s was injured in a shooting early Sunday morning. She was shot twice while on the 2000-block of Robbins Street and was listed in critical condition.

A Sunday morning fire injured three firefighters and an occupant of the Northwood home. The fire started in a home on the 1100-block of Arrott Street around 8:30 a.m. It took nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze. All injuries sustained were minor.
