NEast Links: Siren test, council race and more

Here’s a summary of the week’s Northeast news we didn’t cover. See others here.

Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility tested its siren yesterday. The three-second test was done for a maintenance crew to determine if work needs to be done. The siren will be used in the future to alert neighbors of emergencies.

We got another one! Jared Valdez relocated to the Northeast all the way from San Diego for his business, the Philadelphia Community Development Resource Center. Valdez is considering opening up shop in Lawncrest.

Bobby Henon has thrown his hat in the race for City Council’s 6th District, currently represented by Joan Krajewski. Henon, the political strategist for IBEW Local 98, will run as a Democrate against former School Reform Commissioner Marty Bednarek and former Tacony Quality of Life Committee chair Sandy Stewart.

State Representative Denny O’Brien will run for Council-at-Large, which Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce head and Burholme Civic President Al Taubenberger is also running for.

Every Friday morning, we make sure you didn’t miss any Northeast Philadelphia news with NEast Links.
