Archbishop Ryan's seventh-grade spelling bee winners

Archbishop Ryan High School is proud to announce the results of the 7th Annual Invitational Spelling Bee. Held on Saturday April 2, at Ryan, 76 seventh grade students from 20 grade schools participated. The spelling bee went 17 rounds and equilateral was the winning word. The participants will be the high school class of 2016.

“Each year that we have invited students to participate, I am truly amazed at the preparedness and ability that they bring to the competition,” said Mike McArdle, president of Archbishop Ryan High School. “The students, their parents and their teachers should be proud. I know collectively they have taught these children and prepared diligently for this academic challenge. These are our future and I am encouraged.”

The following were the top three winners:

1st Place: Adrain Toledo, of St. Jerome School in Holme Circle

2nd Place: Jamie Wurtenberg of St. Albert the Great School in Huntingdon Valley

3rd Place:  Karrianne Mullen of St. Anselm School in Parkwood Manor
