City Council wants to tie up bike lanes in red tape

Take ActionToday at 2pm

Bill No. 110440  was introduced Thursday, May 26 by Councilman Greenlee, DiCicco and Clarke to require that all new bike lanes receive a city council ordinance before being installed.  The end result of this bill could be a patchwork of districts with bike lanes and some without and singles out bike lanes for special review over other traffic engineering decisions that are made on city streets.

This bill is being fast tracked and will be voted on by the Streets and Services Committee on Thursday, June 2nd at 2pm.  We need to fill the chamber with bike lane supporters who don’t want this bill to bog down bike lanes and slow down the implementation of the new Pedestrian/Bicycle Plan.  Here is theAgenda.  Sign up for text messages or follow us on twitter to know when we need you to come to the 4th Floor of City Hall!
