Center City District to Unveil
KidsInCenterCity.org poster contest winners

On Thursday, July 7 at 1 p.m., at 19th and Walnut Streets, the Center City District will unveil the winners of the KidsInCenterCity.org Poster Contest. Meet the talented kids who created these colorful and imaginative posters! See their amazing work!

The press conference will take place at the transit shelter at 19th and Walnut, where one of three winning posters has been installed. The unveiling will include the two other winning posters, which have been installed at other nearby bus-stop shelters, but will be available to be photographed on easels at the same site.

Background:
KidsInCenterCity.com launched the drawing contest, “What I Love About Being A Kid In Center City,” on May 5, in honor of the Center City District’s 20th anniversary and to celebrate Center City as a family-friendly place to live and visit. For the contest, children were invited to create and submit drawings at the CCD’s booth at the Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival, at a KidsInCenterCity.com play date at the Comcast Center, or they could download the form from the KidsInCenterCity.com website. The contest ended June 10, and a winner was chosen from each of three age categories: 3 to 5 year olds; 6 to 8 year olds; and 9 to 12 year olds.

With 68 entries, the judges had a really difficult time deciding.
The judges were Debbey Racano, Senior Vice President and Creative Director at LevLane Advertising; Emily Schreiner, Manager of Family and Children’s Programs, Philadelphia Museum of Art; and Jay Bevenour, Illustrator.

Winning posters can be seen at six bus-shelter locations in Center City, including the one at 19th and Walnut Streets. The other locations are: 13th and Walnut; 15th and Walnut; 18th and Chestnut; Broad and Chestnut; and on Market Street just outside Macy’s.

The Center City District created KidsInCenterCity.com in October 2009 in response to the significant increase in Center City of families that have young and school-age children.
