8th PDAC announces National Night Out event details

The 8th PDAC will take part in National Night Out once again, marking the 28th annual nation-wide event with a handful of activities to promote community safety.

Tuesday, Aug. 2nd is the night communities around the country will lock their doors, turn on the outside lights and join their neighbors from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for family activities.

Held at 8th District headquarters, the event has four main goals:

heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts
strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

DJs from 98.1 WOGL will be on hand as the District hosts bike ID etching, kid fingerprinting, free food and mini burglary seminars to be held at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Kids can make use of the moon bounce and bike rodeo, and the whole family can play portable bowling and take part in the hula hoop contest.

Blue porch lights will be available for purchase to support the Police Explorers fundraising efforts.
