Detours expected until at least Sept. 12 for Boulevard water main break

A broken water main near Roosevelt Boulevard and Welsh Road will keep the inner lanes of the intersection shut until at least Sept. 12.

The main broke early Sunday morning and had police rerouting traffic until the extent of the damage was discovered. Road blocks and detours have now been set up until the main can be repaired. The force of the water caused part of the road to buckle, which now also needs to be repaired.

As of Monday, cones had been set up on the northbound and southbound inner lanes approaching the intersection to feed that traffic into the outside lanes to get around the break.
