Weekend News Briefs: 9/23 – 9/25

Friday — A man was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale after his body was dumped from a car near a Tacony cemetery Friday. The 41-year-old may have died of a drug overdose, and was found along the 6400-block of Cottage Street by Magnolia Cemetery around 4 p.m. Police later arrested the driver.

Police have charged a Somerton chiropractor with with indecently assaulting a 69-year-old female patient. Christopher Walcott, 43, is accused of assaulting the woman during a massage he was giving her at Advanced Wellness Center of Pennsylvania on the 14000-block of Bustleton Avenue.

Saturday — A standoff that began Saturday evening ended with a man’s suicide early Sunday. A man barricaded himself in his home on the 9400-block of Bustleton Avenue following a domestic disturbance. After the SWAT members spent hours handling the situation, the man took his own life around 1:30 Sunday morning.

Police were able to apprehend the driver who struck another car early Sunday morning on the 9900-block of Bustleton Avenue. Around 2:30 a.m., a vehicle hit another, pushing it over the curb and into the post office fence. The driver fled, but was later caught. No injuries were reported.
