Officer cleared in off-duty shooting in Frankford
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s office has cleared a police officer involved in an off-duty shooting in Frankford in April.
“Both the District Attorney’s Office and the Philadelphia Police Department interviewed several witnesses who corroborated these events,” D.A. Seth Williams said of the incident.
Officer Larry Shields was off duty April 25 when he observed Joshua Taylor with a gun on the 4000-block of Worth Street. According to Shields’ account, Taylor fled when Shields identified himself as an officer. The two ran into a house a few blocks away where Taylor reportedly pointed a gun at Shields, leading Shields to fire a non-fatal shot at Taylor.
