Rules Committee OKs three bills SugarHouse Casino needs to procede with its revised expansion plan
City Council’s Rules Committee gave its approval to three proposed ordinances SugarHouse Casino needs in order to proceed with its revised plans for expansion.
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission recommended the passage of all three bills, which are now headed to full council for a vote. The Commission discussed the project at its Tuesday meeting.
Zoning Bill 110717 would allow the casino to place retaining walls in the required waterfront setback and change parking and off-street loading requirements.
Streets Bill 110718 would relocate the northwesterly and southeasterly curb lines of North Delaware Avenue, from Frankford Avenue to Marlborough Street, to establish certain curb bump-outs and lay-bys, and relocate a utility right-of-way that runs within the lines of former Shackamaxon Street from the southeasterly side of North Delaware Avenue to the river 200 feet to the northeast.
Zoning Bill 110719 would expand the casino’s Commercial Entertainment District zoning northward onto another parcel they purchased, on which SugarHouse wants to build a garage.
