Father Judge breaks ground at Ramp Playground Renovation Project [slideshow]

The rain couldn’t keep Father Judge administrators, city officials and students athletes away from Ramp Playground Wednesday.

As the city slid into the holiday break, the group celebrated the ground breaking of the Ramp Playground Renovation Project across the street from the school’s doors. By spring, Ramp will have two new synthetic turf fields, dual energy efficient lighting, exterior & interior fencing, sod/seed for non-turf areas, a walkway for fans/players between fields and scoreboards at each field.

“I think the main concept here is that we are not taking over the site, and we are not kicking anyone off the site, we are simply combining our resources with the city to maximize a scheduled upgrade of the site in conjunction with Councilwoman Joan Krajewski, Department of Parks & Recreation and Public Property,” explained Brian Patrick King, director of institutional advancement at Father Judge High School.

Field usage will continue to be scheduled according to the Department of Parks & Recreation’s agenda, and Judge students will still use the field for sports and health/physical fitness class.

Krajewski’s office, Judge and the Parks & Rec department all contributed funding to the project.
