Update: South Street Bridge lights up!

This just in from the Philadelphia Streets Department and the Schuylkill River Development Corporation regarding the final touches of work on the new South Street Bridge.

“The project is nearing completion. The final remaining task is the programming of the decorative lighting on the four bridge towers. Starting last Friday morning, December 16, testing of the the tower lights began. Testing also occurred throughout the weekend (December 17th and 18th). The towers will be illuminated with various test patterns so that the accuracy of the colors and the effectiveness of each lighting element can be determined. The lights will then go dark until they are formally commissioned. Please be advised that the test patterns are not the permanent displays. An additional notice will be sent to you when a date to formally light the towers is determined.”

Thank to Lane Fike of the SRDC for the cool photos.
