Schwartz supports Archbishop Ryan graduate for Pennsylvania attorney general seat
Former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy received an endorsement Thursday for his state attorney general campaign from someone with a local tie.
Murphy, a Northeast native who attended Archbishop Ryan High School, now has the support of Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, whose 13th Congressional District includes parts of the Northeast.
“I’ve worked with Patrick, and together we’ve fought for our constituents and for all Pennsylvanians,” Schwartz said in a release. “I can tell you that Patrick has the character and integrity that we should expect from our law enforcement officials. That’s why I’m proud to support him for Attorney General.”
Currently a lawyer at Fox Rothschild LLP in Center City, Murphy already has other endorsements — including one from former Gov. Ed. Rendell.
He’ll run against a handful of other candidates, one of whom is also from the Northeast. Rhawnhurst native Dan McCaffery, who most recently lived in East Torresdale, formally announced his attorney general campaign yesterday. He ran for Philadelphia District Attorney in 2009.
