Cat of the Week: Jonah

UPDATE, Feb. 9, 2012: Jonah has been adopted!

Meet sweet Jonah (A15063422), a young male tabby abandoned at Animal Control.

When Jonah arrived he was emaciated, dehydrated and sick with a kitty cold. On his first day, all he wanted was to eat and sleep. He’s not used to the barking dogs and cages, so he’s been scared and hisses in defense. The hissing, though, is a front.

Once he’s had some yummy soft food and a little tuna, you’ve earned his trust and you can pet him tip to tail. He especially enjoys relaxing his face in your hand. Life on the street was pretty rough for Jonah and he still isn’t sure who or what to trust. Jonah is probably best in a quieter home and it’s possible a cat brother or sister could help him feel more comfortable. Please consider helping Jonah get out of this shelter!

These animals are located at Philadelphia’s animal control shelter, ACCT. They need immediate adoption or foster care. ACCT is located at 111 W Hunting Park Ave and is open 365 days a year. Adoption hours are Monday-Friday; 1pm-8pm; Saturday and Sunday; 10am-5pm. To check the status of an animal, call 267-385-3800. Check in every week with NEast Philly to see the cat and dog of the week.
