Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Fox breaks news in the wrong neighborhood

Mastbaum High School is on Frankford Avenue between Allegheny Avenue and Clearfield Street. That’s not Frankford because it’s well south of the Frankford Creek – the boundary for Northeast Philadelphia.

But Fox29 doesn’t go to Frankford (or Kensington) unless something is wrong, so its reporters aren’t too familiar with the neighborhoods.

Which is why, when something bad happened in Kensington and Fox wanted an exclusive, the team rushed to produce this story about  violence at Mastbaum High School in Kensington. Or, by Fox’s account, Frankford.

Fox, if an entire body of water has your reporters stumped, it might be time to have a how-to-use-a-map training session.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
