NPR visited the historic Cruiser Olympia and SS United States to discuss the expensive struggles to keep these historic vessels afloat. NewsWorks reports that the SS United States Conservancy is looking for as many of the original furnishings, fixtures, and memorabilia it can possibly collect from the stripped ship. The Conservancy is hoping that with enough stuff, they’ll be able to create a museum environment on the ship to help generate revenue.

As expected, a group of local businessmen and philanthropists purchased the Inquirer, Daily News, and philly.com for $55 million yesterday. The new owners will also put $10 million in working capital on the table and pledged, “no owner shall attempt to influence or interfere with editorial policies or news decisions,” reports the Inquirer.

Pennsylvania has a new law that sets safer rules for cyclists and motorists sharing space. The law requires drivers to give cyclists a four-foot buffer and permits drivers to cross double yellow lines to pass a cyclist. Cyclists should stay as close as possible to the right-hand curb and endeavor not to disrupt the flow of traffic. Bicycle Coalition spokesman Nicholas Mirra said, in the absence of bike lanes “it’s good to have rules of the road to manage these interactions.”

Philadelphia’s Sunoco refinery has at least four bidders, reports the Inquirer. The four known bidders would keep the refining operation going, according to an industry analyst’s note.
