Dog of the Week: Jackie-O

Meet Jackie (A15922320)! This sweetheart of a girl is a 1- to 2-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was found as a stray and brought to the shelter.

Don’t let the wounds on her face confuse you – she was not used for ill purposes, but instead has an allergy to fleas and couldn’t help but itch herself! Luckily, she’s been treated for fleas and is now on the mend.

Jackie loves attention and will gently climb into your lap where she could stay for hours if you’d let her! She also likes playtime, and while she could use some basic obedience training, it’s easy to remind her not to jump on people to play. Jackie didn’t show any issues with basic or advanced body handling (she thought it felt good) and showed no issues with food besides eating a quickly (she was hungry!).

Jackie was a bit distracted during her cat test and should have another before going home with any. Jackie was a little uncomfortable in her dog meets, just because she likely hadn’t had chance to play with any recently. She did try to initiate play with a dog more her speed and was friendly, but didn’t look to play with a pushier dog. Have resident dogs at home? Please bring them down to meet
