Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Yet another street/neighborhood mix-up by Action News

Someone needs to put an overlay on Google Maps with the declaration, “Torresdale and Torresdale Avenue are not the same.”

But given the nature of this mistake, we’re not sure it would help. Last month, five people were injured in a car accident at Harbison and Torresdale Avenues.

Ever the sly editors, Action News ran a story with a headline that said the crash happened in Torresdale and a story that said it happened in Frankford.

So where did the crash take place?  The answer is . . . neither!

The crash on the 5200-block of Torresdale Avenue puts it just above Bridge Street, the Wissinoming/Frankford divider. It’s not a grave mistake on Action News’ part, given the crash was so close to Wissinoming’s border.

But Torresdale? That’s miles away. The Action News van would have to speed all the way through Wissinoming, Tacony, Holmesburg and Upper Holmesburg before reaching Torresdale.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
