Right NEast/Wrong NEast: CBS reports wrong neighborhood for home invasion

How many times do we have to remind the big media outlets that Robbins Street is the border between Wissinoming and Tacony?

Apparently, at least one more. This is the fourth time in less than a year – the third for CBS3.

No injuries were reported in a June 12 home invasion on the 6200-block of Marsden Street in Wissinoming. Of course, CBS reported the home invasion took place in Tacony because no matter how many times we tell them, the reporters can’t seem to remember which side of Robbins is what. Even Wikipedia knows the difference.

The station should make and note the correction and apologize to anyone who saw the Tacony headline for making them worry. An apology is also in order for Wissinoming residents who are so often overlooked in the slapdash reporting process.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
