Right NEast/Wrong NEast: In which the Daily News uses parallel streets to try to define an intersection

Friendship Street and Longshore Avenue run parallel.

They’re parallel in Lawncrest, Castor Gardens and across the Boulevard into Mayfair and Tacony. At no point do they intersect.

And yet, somehow the Daily News reported a criminal’s last known address is  “on Friendship Street near Longshore.”

It’s not actually wrong. It’s just misleading. Which one of the four neighborhoods is this criminal from? Good think a commenter pointed out it’s the 1400-block of Friendship Street, near Loretto (and yes, near Longshore).

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
