St. Wiliam’s student wins national ‘First in Math’ title

Josephine Nguyen is the first in math.

Nguyen, closed out her fourth-grade year at the now-closed St. William’s in Lawncrest with a title she beat 1.4 million students in the country to claim. She won first-place honors in the national “First in Math” competition.

The daughter of two Vietnamese immigrants, Nguyen was able to win the online competition despite having no home computer. Nguyen won an iPod Touch and a trophy, the latter of which she was encouraged to bring to school so her classmates could celebrate with her.
