Man sentenced for straw-purchased gun found at Frankford shooting scene
A 24-year-old man was sentenced to prison Monday for the straw purchase of firearms – the practice of having another person buy the firearm for you.
According to office of Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams, Christian Hall conducted five straw purchases in Olney between April and August of 2011. Four remain at large, but one of the guns was recovered from the scene of a Feb. 22, 2012 shooting in Frankford.
“Despite Hall’s complete lack of a prior record and extensive family support, the court recognized the danger he was to the city by imposing the strong sentence today,” Williams’ office said Monday.
Representatives from West Frankford Town Watch and CeaseFirePA attended Hall’s sentencing hearing and watched the judge order him to spend two to five years in prison.
