New crime plan in 2nd District, Hero Thrill Show approaching

With a new crime plan rolling out in the 2nd Police District, Lt. Tom Tomlin appeared at the Lawncrest Community Association meeting Tuesday night armed with stats. And he had some good news.

Sharing numbers from the last 30 days in Police Service Area 2 , Tomlin reported the three aggravated assaults in the area are a “phenomenally low” statistic, and the three stolen vehicles is” actually a very good” number.

There were 14 burglaries during that time, and though only one arrest has been made so far, Tomlin said that arrest cleared nine of the burglaries. Of the 10 robberies, four involved a gun. Arrests have been made in two of the armed robberies.

“Be alert,” Tomlin advised as a general rule. “A little bit of precaution can save a lot of worry later on.”

The new crime plan will include more tactical unit and more bike patrols.
