Part of Cottman Avenue renamed for fallen police officer

A portion of Cottman Avenue was renamed today for Sgt. Stephen Liczbinksi.

Cottman Avenue at Algon outside Northeast High School now has a memorial highway sign in honor of the fallen police officer. He was killed in 2008 during a pursuit of a criminal in Port Richmond. His killers were sentenced to life in prison.

The dedicated highway runs through Burholme up to Central Avenue.
