BREAKING: SPCA officers on the scene of possible animal hoarding case in Rhawnhurst

Pennsylvania SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Officers are executing a search warrant and removing dozens of animals from a house on the 1900-block of Emerson Street in Rhawnhurst, according to PSPCA spokeswoman Wendy Marano.

“Officers have removed 15 cats so far, and are in the process of removing additional animals from the property including dogs and cats,” she said in a media alert filed at 3 p.m. “The property has been the focus of an ongoing investigation due to numerous complaints. Officers are looking for the suspected owner, a woman (age unknown), for questioning.”

Director of Humane Law Enforcement George Bengal said the house if filled with debris and animal feces.

“The conditions are unlivable for animals or people,” he said  Officials from  Philadelphia’s  Licensing & Inspections department  are expected to condemn the property.
