Suspects wanted for multiple ATM burglaries

Police across the city are looking for the suspects wanted in connection with multiple ATM burglaries, four of which took place in the Northeast.

Dennis Woods, 38, has been identified as a person of interest in the robberies, and is also wanted in connection with the May robbery of the Delaire pharmacy on the 9400-block of State Road.

In the nine ATM thefts authorities are investigating, the suspects often gained entry to the machines using a acetylene torch. In many cases, the suspects cut the phone and electrical lines and returned to the scene later to finish the job.

The following robberies took place in the Northeast between July 29 and Aug. 10:

July 29, 2013, DC#13-15-071555 4356 Frankford Ave (PNC Bank) 7:30PM Entry to this business was gained through a neighboring brick wall. The ATM was broken into and $60,930 was taken. August 5, 2013, DC#13-08-031109 8800 Frankford Ave (Kmart) 12:01AM Upon opening, the manager observed the north side door forced open. Inside, the ATM was broken into. In addition, the pharmacy, jewelry and electronics counter and cash room were broken into. Security cameras and wires were also damaged. Approximate value of stolen items $50,000. August 9, 2013, DC#13-02-051794 7960 Verree Rd. (Verree Pharmacy) 4:09AM While responding to a burglary alarm, police found the front door forced open, wires severed in the rear of the property and the PECO meter removed. Unknown amount of USC and narcotics were taken. August 10, 2013, DC#13-02-051990 5918 Rising Sun Ave (Wells Fargo) 1:57AM Security informed police that unknown offenders were attempting to gain entry to the drive thru ATM. The safe was compromised by a blowtorch. No entry was gained. The offender was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, ski mask & a white motorcycle helmet with stars. (Attempt/Nothing Taken).

Police are looking for two males, one wearing a white motorcycle helmet, the other wearing a black hooded sweat shirt at the time of the thefts. Anyone with information about the crimes should contact police calling 215.686.TIPS (8477), texting PPD TIP or 773847 or submitting a tip online.
