Mother charged for leaving baby in Far Northeast parking lot

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged a 24-year-old Olney woman with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment of another person after the woman’s 1-year-old daughter was found alone in a car Monday.

Shoppers called authorities when the saw the baby alone in the Whitman Plaza shopping center on the 9700-block of Roosevelt Boulevard. Jasmin Ingram returned from shopping and, after a dispute with police in which she got into her car and refused to leave, was taken into custody. The child was examined at a hospital and is now in her father’s custody.

Ingram has been released on her own recognizance and is due in court Oct. 1.
