Crispin Youth Organization the latest to host ‘Coach Bag BINGO’

A new version of BINGO night is sweeping the Northeast — Coach Bag BINGO.

On Friday night the Crispin Youth Organization will be hosting its own event to help raise money for the football, cheerleading, basketball, softball and baseball programs.

“The money is for the kids so that the club can continue to run at its best capacity,” Cheerleading Director Dawn Bringhurst said. “We don’t want the kids to have to suffer the consequences of such hard financial times.”

All of the sports within the organization will benefit from this event. But in order to get the bags, some of the board members had to go on a shopping spree.

“We went shopping at the outlet stores and then eight bags are sponsored,” Board Secretary Patty Leneghan explained. “Fran Murray, [Pa. Rep.] Ed Neilson’s office are a few who are sponsoring. And a couple of families went in together on a bag and sponsored it.”

About 250 to 300 people are expected to attend the ticketed event.

Shannon Dougherty and Lili Zheng are students reporting for Philadelphia Neighborhoods, the publication of Temple University’s Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab.
