Visible progress at Dilworth Plaza

If you’ve passed City Hall recently, you may have noticed a stark white frame popping out of the gray, snow-and-grit-covered Dilworth Plaza construction site. When the project is complete, that white structure on the north side of the plaza will contain a cafe, entrances to the below-ground transit network and an information booth.

Despite the snowy weather, crews are still making progress on the cafe building, elevators, stairs, underground corridors and utilities and surface pavers.

“The last three weeks of snow have been challenging, but we have a lot of work going on at the concourse and platform levels and progress continues to be made on the surface,” said Center City District (CCD) President and CEO Paul Levy in an email.

Levy said CCD is still aiming to have the project complete for the first week of September but noted that CCD “will be able to speak with more certainty at the end of the current Ice Age.”

CCD hopes to have an announcement regarding the cafe tenant in the near future.
