March 2: Bike lane reform at PennDOT | Naked Philly in Sydney | PlanPhilly/DAG event

Sarah Clark Stuart at the Bicycle Coalition makes the case that PennDOT’s policy of requiring a Bicycle Occupancy Permit for bike lanes on state roads is inhibiting better bike infrastructure outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. “PennDOT’s regulations require that a bike lane cannot be installed on any state road unless the municipality is willing to sign a Bicycle Occupancy Permit and accept full legal liability and maintenance requirements.”

The iconic A Man’s Image storefront on E. Passyunk Avenue will soon become a Barcelona wine bar, reports Taylor Farnsworth, and the large retail space in the new mixed-use project at South and 13th Street will become a large vape store.

Virginia-based artist Peter Dovak, who first brought us the nicer looking SEPTA map has a new print featuring the many vehicles of SEPTA. 

Jake Blumgart wonders what the future may hold for Levittown, PA, the archetypal first ring suburb. “Census data shows that Levittown, while certainly less prosperous than it used to be, does not share the vulnerabilities of some of Philadelphia’s suburbs.”
