Philadelphia has seen a “significant increase in call volume over the past couple of weeks related to broken service lines, frozen service lines and broken water mains” due to the extreme cold, PMN reports. The city is responsible for main breaks; Philadelphia Water Department rep Laura Copeland says the city is responding as quickly as possible given the increased volume and difficult conditions.

Bart Blatstein has sold half of the 12-acre parcel fronting the Delaware River at 1401 S. Columbus Blvd to Philadelphia-based developer U.S. Construction Inc., the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

In Philadelphia, 1,109 people used Uber to get around on New Year’s Eve, according to the rideshare company. Local spokesman Craig Ewer shares with Technically Philly that Philly-area drivers netted $41,802 in tips and that the top three destinations were XFINITY Live!, Lincoln Financial Field, and the Fillmore.
