Join the Community Design Collaborative, Philadelphia Water Department, and US Environmental Protection Agency at the launch party for Infill Philadelphia: Soak it Up!
Infill Philadelphia: Soak It Up is a design initiative that explores how green stormwater infrastructure—rain gardens, green roofs, and other tools that "soak up" stormwater runoff—can play an important role in revitalizing urban neighborhoods, especially in older American cities. This is the key strategy behind Green City, Clean Waters, the City's innovative and environmentally-sustainable plan to improve the health of our local waterways.
At the party, you can also enjoy an exhibition of over 40 precedent projects designed to soak up stormwater and make cities more attractive, healthy, and engaging places to live. Projects from the Philadelphia region and other cities including Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh will be on display at the Center for Architecture.
The exhibition will provide a sampling of city-savvy projects with a strong accent on green stormwater infrastructure, ranging from the visionary to the purely pragmatic. The party will give sustainability-minded Philadelphians a chance to meet and talk with the designers of the projects.
