The Neighborhood Parks Stewardship Initiative is bringing major improvements to Wissinoming Park, and residents are invited to join partners in kicking off the project. The upgrades include a playground, spray garden, seating area, drinking water feature and two new rain gardens that will protect local waterways.
These Philadelphia Parks and Recreation-led improvements will be previewed during a special Love Your Park Week ground breaking celebration, featuring Councilman Bobby Henon, Councilwoman María Quiñones-Sánchez, Mayor Jim Kenney, PP&R Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovellt, Philadelphia Water Department Commissioner Debra McCarty and Rick Madger, executive director of the Fairmount Park Conservancy.
The Neighborhood Parks Stewardship Initiative is a joint effort of the Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, thePHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Together, these partners are making joint improvements in community spaces while capturing and managing stormwater runoff to improve the health of waterways for all Philadelphians.
