Howard B. Haas is a Philadelphia native and Center City Philadelphia lawyer. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from University of Pennsylvania in 1982 and his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1985. He worked for the federal government in Washington D.C., and Philadelphia law firms before starting his own law practice. Mr. Haas is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants (NOSSCR) and the Social Security Disability Benefits Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
In 2002, as a volunteer, Howard B. Haas founded and as president has led since then the nonprofit organization the Friends of the Boyd,. Inc. which has strived to save Philadelphia's last premiere movie palace, the Boyd Theatre, built in 1928. Recipient of 2014 Henry J. Magaziner, EFAIA, Award of the AIA Philadelphia Historic Preservation Committee; 2008 Marquee Award, Member of the Year, Theatre Historical Society of America; 2005 Whitman Preservation Award from The Heritage Collaborative Inc (S Jersey); 2003 Community Action Award to Committee to Save the Sameric , Howard B.
